Four Reasons to Say No to Cheap Bongs

Cheap bongs made of low quality glass or acrylic have their place in the world of cannabis consumption, generally at parties and in homes which frequently see guests. That being said, for anybody looking for a new smoking device, there’s plenty of reasons to stay away from all those cheap bongs on the bottom shelves of the head shop. If you have a palate for the tasty flavors of pot, and want to explore the world of smooth bong rips, but you tend to be quite frugal in life, here’s five reasons to help you feel okay with dropping a few extra dollars on your first piece.

  1. You don’t have to pay over a hundred dollars for a great bong smoking experience with smooth smoke and powerful flavor. You can easily find something reasonable for around 60 dollars especially when looking around for good sales and liquidation events. High quality glass can generally be found when looking at anything over 50 bucks, but yes, these bongs will tend to be a bit smaller than some of the potentially more attractive models at half the price. Don’t be tricked, appearances are worth less than performance.
  2. Cheap bongs will break quicker. Acrylic or cheap glass is more suitable for people that will share their piece with a lot of friends, therefore seeing the most potential for accidents. If you’re more of a solo smoker this concern doesn’t apply to you so you can feel more comfortable splurging a bit.
  3. Cheap bongs are more often than not sourced from factories in China. This indirectly contributes to very cheap labor in dangerous working conditions, often for young children, and also hurts local businesses. Spending a bit more cash at your local head shop on something made by a local glass blower is a great alternative to that reality.
  4. This last reason is a bit more frivolous but, cheap bongs will almost always have a plain or tacky look to it. With a higher price range comes a way greater variety in creative designs, so you can find yourself something more personalized which suits your style as an individual.
